Alistair Greywolf

"I'm a...legitimate businessman, I assure you."

Roleplay Hooks

Grey Pantera

Alistair's place of business - owner and bartender both. Open every Thursday and Friday, the man can almost always be found behind the bar every night, and he is almost always open to conversation.

**Criminal Underworld
**

Though not necessarily an active member of the underworld nowadays, Alistair nonetheless keeps his contacts close at hand, and is kept well informed of all recent goings-on. With the right incentive, he may also be convinced to jump back in for a plot or two, as well...

**Business Dealings
**

Running a legitimate business while keeping in contact with the illegitimate side of things means the man needs plenty of contacts to keep everything running smoothly. From suppliers for his bar, to informants to keep him up to date, Alistair is always eager to hear if someone is capable of providing him with something he needs.

**Information Broker
**

Not only does Alistair receive information, so too is he able to gather and sell it himself. Owning a bar allows for him to take advantage of peoples' looser lips and lowered inhibitions, and he still retains his uncanny ability to blend in with crowds when need be. The man is always willing to buy, sell and trade information -- provided he views it as worthwhile to him.

**Origins
**

Unlike many of his kin in Eorzea, Alistair was not born in Ala Mhigo -- his parents were nomadic (or so they told him, as he grew older), and the man wound up being born in the far reaches of the Sagolii Desert. A child forced his parents to settle down - in relative terms - and he grew up in a small camp of only a dozen or so Highlanders. This life was understandably quite boring and stifling for a young man, and as he grew older, Alistair yearned to escape, certainly well before his parents were ready to keep moving. In his early teens, Alistair achieved just that -- armed with only a stolen set of supplies and his desert-hardened survival skills, he set off in search of something 'better'. What he wound up finding was a group of bandits camped out a few bells east of Little Ala Mhigo; but rather than mug or murder the young man, the bandits took him in. This was, in Alistair's mind, 'better' than his life in the depths of the desert, and with this gang, he learned how to be quiet, blend in, pick pockets...and other, far more unsavoury things. This was the highlander's life for over a decade: theft, blackmail, extortion, murder, even a little bit of arson. Like most criminal enterprises, however, it was doomed to eventually fail; the Brass Blades finally tracked down their hideout when Alistair was in his late 20s, and only a few of the group managed to escape -- there were no prisoners, only bloodied blades and unmarked graves. The Blades believed their work finished (or were too lazy to finish the job), and the man found himself without a family once again. Having grown accustomed to relative luxury, however, Alistair was unwilling to disappear back into the desert, and so he instead set west, towards Ul'dah.Half a decade in the jewel of the desert allowed the man to flex his charisma and ability to manipulate others. Here in the city, he was allowed to engage in more 'practical' pursuits, and managed to land jobs with the goldsmithing and mining guilds, despite having absolutely no experience or proven ability to do either. He was able to fake it well enough until he gained the skills, however, and at the end of his tenure, left with skills that would serve him for the rest of his life.Eventually, Eorzea proved to not be what the man wanted for his life, and when Kugane opened its port to visitors, he was one of the first to board a boat there. Being the chameleon he was, he integrated quickly into the Eastern culture, and so began his new life, of more 'legitimate' business dealings.

**Personality
**

Alistair is, in short, a troll with a heart of gold. Despite his age, the man is extremely fond of pranks and jokes, and is extremely skilled at playful wordplay. While he may come off as mean, or rude, rarely is that genuine -- when it is, everything will fall away and be replaced with a dangerous silence.Despite his business dealings, the man is also extremely - almost suspiciously so - generous. Help and lodgings are easily provided to folk he feels are in true need, and he never (seems) to require anything in return.

**OOC Notes
**

Just the standard things here, folks. The biggest is and will always be that IC =/= OOC. I have no patience for those who blur these lines -- I am very happy to establish OOC friends as a result of IC interations, but these need to remain completely separate.Player is 21+, and generally prefers to RP with others over 18. I am not hard opposed to RPing with those younger, though mature themes will be off the table.I am very fluid in regards to roleplay. I am open to most themes, with the obvious ones needing communication and consent: ERP, permanent injuries, and death.I am, in theory, the type of person to match my partner's writing style and post length. My personal preference is a 'fluid' style of RP, where post length isn't locked into short posts or paragraphs only, but ebbs and flows based on how the scene is going. If I post short responses, don't take it personally -- it's not done out of annoyance or anger, simply how I feel is appropriate to respond in the moment.Otherwise, I am very laid back and easygoing -- do feel free to approach me both ICly and OOCly! I'm usually down to chat and meet some new folks.
